MINIS

It’s been a constant battle with these mini canvases. Creating something smaller and in turn a bit more affordable has always been on my mind. Unfortunately I’ve struggled to create these canvases in a way that they can be sold at an affordable price. In short, they just take a while to get right.

For now I have scrapped the format. Simply working on smaller canvases bent over a desk has proven to be a lot worse for my back and neck than working on a larger scale. Meanwhile I managed to develop the pattern to a point where every little piece of the puzzle had its own important function. As a result, a lot of time has been spent in my sketchpad trying to decide on colour compositions. All in all I eventually realised that the pattern I had finally settled on didn’t actually look so much like camouflage. A pretty telling sign that I was heading in the wrong direction.
